And now to this week’s topic:
Creating moving mood boards with Midjourney and runway
Having an idea is one thing, being able to visualize it is a completely different game. I have already written a bit about how I work with Midjourney in this blog post. But today I want to take it to the next level - moving images.
Being able to create a trailer for any idea with just a few clicks can be extremely powerful, be it in early development weighing different idea routes against each other, or later in the process communicating your idea to others. So whenever I see new things pop up on the AI video front - I check them out.
Some weeks ago the ai video-tool suite runway opened their Gen2 generative video tool to the public. The tool has both a text-to-video and an image-to-video functionality. Of course, I had to try this out and especially the image-to-video feature really blew my mind!
To show you this workflow I started off with a random idea I had a while ago: Dogs wearing gas masks. Cause - why not?
The first step was to create some of these in Midjourney:
Pretty awesome I thought. Midjourney just keeps getting better and better, especially with short prompts. Now obviously my idea needed a plot - the oldest plot in the world. The deadly enemy of dogs all around the world:
All right - pretty sweet! Paw-some Warfare (thanks ChatGPT for the title brainstorm) is taking form.
But now to the magic part - let’s make these images move. You simply upload the image to runway and click generate - and a minute or so later you have a 4-sec moving image sequence. Stringing four of those together and sprinkling a bit of adobe firefly generated text effects in there gives a great impression of how easy it would be to build a pretty epic trailer:
Hope you enjoyed this little showcase - and let me know if you are interested in working on Paw-some warfare with me.
Thought of the Week
If you haven’t done it so far - go check out pi.ai. Their goal is to build everybody’s personal ai assistant. And it has become really good already. I recently had a super interesting discussion with it about how to deal with difficult feelings at work. But of course you can also joke around.
TV-Show Idea Generator!
And lastly - some more variations on this week’s theme - I am pretty sure this particular one will create a TV-station bidding war:
Chef Wars: A cooking show set in a world where cats and dogs wage culinary warfare! Follow the canine and feline chefs as they battle it out in the kitchen, using their culinary skills and strategic warfare tactics to create the most delicious dishes and prove their cooking superiority.
That’s all for this week - Wuff and Miau!
